If a co-worker calls you a Thug..Is it slander in the workplace?

I work with another girl whom I never speak to..I only write notes when something needs to be completed or finished at work..I have been with the company for over a year and she has been working for the company for 6 months..She has been talking to other workers in the area and mentioned to one of them that I was a THUG..I would normally not take it seriously...But I am a female mexican and I do not threaten people nor do I swear..I want to mention the issue to my supervisor but I am not sure she would do anything about the situation..Any advise would help...thanks
