Shouldn't U.S. schools make more of an effort to prepare students to live in our "democracy"?
I understand that in school, some strict rules need to be put in place and that in order to actually give students and education a "dictatorship" usualy must exist in a clroom but today I was reading about a student running for a cl office who posted something online about the teachers at her school calling them "s". Yes, she shouldn't be using language like that but when school officials found out about this they told her she could no longer run for a cl office. The student took the case to court but the court ruled against her. She is now fighting the decision in a higher court. My problem with all this is that if the courts rule against her again, this is going to send (in my opinion) a very bad message to all students in schools everywhere. A ruling against her will basicaly be saying that you are not aloud to speak your mind and if you do, you will not be allowed to participate in the democratic process. The student in this case wrote her comments on her own
