Seven deadly sins?

Ok, one of the seven deadly sins is avarice. In the description of this, it says that deliberate betrayal is part of this sin. But what if you are betraying someone for a good reason? For example, I make a deal with my friend and then find out this is a deal that will hurt someone. I betray my friend by informing the police of the deal. Do you think this still counts as a sin?
