Were both 18, and this is a serious question (not an immature 14 year old question) anything helps?

Dude in in a similar situation. I've started to really like a girl that ive been friends with for a really long time now. She said she thinks we would b better as friends. I told her that I still want to b friends and hang out because I didn't want to lose a friend like her. Dude trust me. If she's as good of a friend as you say then I'm sure you don't want to lose her. Hang out with her while you can. And who knows. Maybe it'll work out eventually.
